He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from King’s College London (UK), an MBA in Finance and Energy from Rice University (USA), and a master’s in public administration from RANEPA (Russia).
Work experience
Zhanbolat Kakishev has over 15 years of management experience across the energy, finance, technology, transport, logistics, and international business sectors. He has been a member of the Presidential Youth Personnel Reserve (2019).
Since March 2023, he has led the Delivery Unit at the Reform Center. He previously served as CEO of QazTech, Chairman of the Board of Astana Invest, and held leadership positions at Samruk-Kazyna JSC, Creeris Ventures, ExxonMobil, Agip KCO, and other organizations.
AIFC Kazakhstan Junior Mining Platform
AIFC is developing the Junior Mining Platform as a tool for working with early-stage projects. The platform is designed to collect and form a pool of junior projects, categorize them according to their development stage, and select them based on a standardised checklist. Projects that do not meet the criteria are excluded, while selected ones undergo preliminary screening and preparation, including the creation of teasers for further promotion among investors. In parallel, financing tools such as earn-in, royalty, and streaming agreements are being developed, with the option to structure deals and pre-screen potential investors.
