Samat Daumov is a Partner and Director of GRATA International in Astana. He focuses on the firm’s management and strategic development and served as Managing Partner of the Kazakhstan offices from 2013 to 2019. Samat holds an LL.M. (with honours) from M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University and a degree in management from the Kazakh-Russian University. He has completed professional training in the United Kingdom and at Astana Hub. He specialises in natural resources, commercial and corporate law, and litigation. Samat is also an author of legal publications and a regular lecturer at M. Narikbayev KAZGUU University.
Regulation of the Mining Industry in Central Asia: Investment Lessons from Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan for Kazakhstan
A review is planned focusing on key challenges and regulatory missteps in the mining sector across several countries in the region. Particular attention will be given to the practices of Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan as Kazakhstan’s closest competitors.
The purpose of the material is to analyse their experience, monitor current trends, and, where possible, take into account identified shortcomings when shaping the national regulatory approach.
