From Samples to Decisions: The Role of QA/QC in Mining & Exploration

Accurate data is critical in mining and exploration, where decisions rely on laboratory results. This presentation outlines the importance of Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) in ensuring reliable and defensible data—from sampling to final analysis.
It will cover key QA/QC tools such as reference materials, blanks, and duplicates, along with the role of standardized methods and proficinecy testings. Brief examples will show how poor QA/QC can impact project outcomes, while strong systems improve confidence, compliance, and resource evaluation.
The presentation highlights QA/QC not just as a technical necessity, but as a key factor in reducing risk and supporting better decision-making.
