Reforming legislation as a key driver for investment in the mining and metals sector
The adoption of a new Tax Code, amendments to the Subsoil Code, and the development of a National Project for the Development of Coal-Fired Power Generation are only some of the changes that have had a direct impact on the mining and metals sector over the past year. From the government’s side, we see clear policy signals emphasizing the need to increase domestic processing of raw materials. At the same time, issues related to attracting investment in geological exploration are becoming increasingly relevant. It is important to assess how well the existing legislation aligns with these objectives and whether it effectively incentivizes investors to invest in Kazakhstan.
