From Local Champions to Global Players: The Next Stage of Development for Mining Companies in Central Asia

Central Asia has emerged as an increasingly important mining region, supported by substantial reserves of copper, gold, uranium, polymetals, and critical minerals. Over the past two decades, national and regional mining companies have successfully built large-scale operations, strengthened production capabilities, and established themselves as key contributors to their domestic economies.
As global demand for metals continues to evolve - driven by energy transition, infrastructure development, and supply-chain diversification - mining companies in the region are entering a new phase of development. This phase is less defined by resource availability and more by capital efficiency, partnerships, and integration into global markets.
The discussion will explore how mining companies in Central Asia can gradually expand their presence in international capital markets, deepen cooperation with strategic investors and financial institutions, and continue strengthening governance and investor communication practices. It will also consider how portfolio thinking, long-term financing strategies, and cross-border partnerships can support sustainable growth across commodity cycles.
Drawing on global industry benchmarks and regional experience, the session will highlight practical pathways through which mining companies can build on their strong operational foundations while increasing resilience, financial flexibility, and global visibility.
Central Asia has a unique opportunity to reinforce its position not only as a resource-rich region, but also as a stable and competitive mining investment destination.
